August 1–2, 2026, at Oldenburg Castle – Castle Hall
On the theme of "brandnew - brandnew", the market participants submit objects and demonstrate their mastery of craftsmanship and artistic ceramics. These often unconventional interpretations of the theme provide an impressive overview of the diversity of contemporary ceramics. The Keramiktage Oldenburg are thus also a "school of seeing".
The Detlef Schmidt-Wilkens Prize for Ceramics and the Audience Choice Award will be presented to the participating artists.

The current winner of the NEUE KERAMIK award from South Tyrol, Italy, creates unique pieces that she shapes on the potter’s wheel using porcelain stoneware, exploring forms with clean and simple lines. Her creations are then finished with a sealed clay slip and fired using natural fuels, giving each piece unique and refined colors.

Ceramics in the Powder Tower
Maya Fenderl - Exotics
Maya Fenderl, Bird, white clay, glaze, 2024, photo by Alexander Burzik
July 5 – August 30, 2026, Pulverturm Oldenburg, Schlosswall 3
This year’s award winner, Maya Fenderl, transforms the medieval Powder Tower into an exotic place with her imaginative works. Luminous glazes reminiscent of Expressionism, striking ornaments that play around bold forms, and a touch of absurdity that highlights ambivalence are what give Maya Fenderl’s ceramics their unique sophistication. Whether twisted, folded, coiled, striped, wildly sprawling, or dotted, the diversity of these intuitively constructed objects is refreshingly different. Exoten is a surprising presentation that plays with nature’s organic forms, animal bodies, and identities, yet eludes any concrete categorization.
