The international ceramics world is a guest in Oldenburg: ceramists as well as guests from all over Europe and overseas can be found at the large Keramikmarkt on Oldenburg's Schlossplatz. Once a year, the tranquil town in the quiet north becomes an international hotspot!
Quality counts
Only the best professional ceramists are admitted to the market. A jury of five experts selected 100 workshops from around 260 applications. No easy task! In addition to high artistic quality, a balanced composition of the market must be ensured.

The Keramiktage Oldenburg take place every year on the first weekend in August, on Saturdays, from 10 am - 6 pm and on Sundays, from 11 am - 6 pm.
Plan enough time for your visit - you won't be able to stop marvelling! Of course, drinks and snacks will be provided in between.
And who invented it?
Internationale Keramiktage Oldenburg has been organised by the "Werkschule - Werkstatt für Kunst und Kulturarbeit e.V." since 1999. Until then, the market was called "Oldenburger Töpfermarkt" and was organised by the municipal cultural office. After a comprehensive concept revision by the "Werkschule e.V." in 2009, however, a new name was needed!
By no means futile!
Behind "Internationale Keramiktage Oldenburg" is of course a sophisticated concept. In addition to the promotion of international ceramic artists, the visualisation of contemporary handicrafts is a top priority. What's more, we want to make the wealth of ceramic art accessible to every individual, to be a "school of seeing" and to impart knowledge. For our commitment, we have been awarded membership in the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) in 2016.
