Porous body, special quality.

Term for low-fired ceramics (below 1100° C) with coloured body (term for a fired ceramic mass), which is porous and water-permeable after the firing process.

Mostly earthenware is decorated with engobes and usually almost completely glazed. The low firing temperatures allow a wide range of colors and a special quality in gloss and texture of the surface.
